Hot air balloons tend to have a limited life, around 400 hours, as the envelope becomes porous to hot air. This example, built in 1981 was cancelled in 1998. Many are preserved by the British Balloon Museum and Library and this is seen at a tethered inflation.

Once the symbol of Robertson's Jams in the UK this was the first special shaped balloon which set a trend for such things. It was sacrificed by the company due to Political Correctness but fortunately survives as part of the British Balloon Museum and Library collection. It made a tethered inflation at Pidley, Cambridgeshire and still seemed to be loved by the youngsters who were there.

This huge balloon takes the form of a Scots bagpipe player, with even the fingers moving on the chanter. Built in 1997 it was cancelled as permanently withdrawn from use in November 2015
