On 24 February 2022, this Ukrainian Air Force Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29MU1, 05 white, was shot down by a Russian fighter jet and crashed near Volodymyrivka, Vyshhorod Raion, Kyiv Oblast. The pilot pidpolkovnyk Vyacheslav Yerko, of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, was killed.

Aircraft crashed only few days after this picture was taken. On the evening of 16 October 2018 this Sukhoi Su-27 fighter crashed in the vicinity of Ulaniv in Khmilnyk Raion, Vinnytsia Oblast, while performing a training exercise during Exercise Clear Sky 2018, killing both crew. On board the aircraft was Polkovnyk Ivan Nikolaevich Petrenko of the 831st TAB, as well as Lt. Col. Seth "Jethro" Nehring of the 114th FW, CA ANG. Nehring was an experienced F-15 and F-16 pilot.
