The 153rd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron was part of the Mississippi Air National Guard and based at Key Field ANGB. The squadron is currently equipped with KC-135 Stratotankers, but in the old days - after the prop era - it flew jets like the RF-80 Shooting Star, RF-84F Thunderflash, RF-101C Voodoo and these nice RF-4C Phantoms IIs. This 418 was temporary based at Bergstrom and a nice change to the massive number of photographed BA-coded Recce Phantoms that day.

As part of the Tactical Air Command, the 91st Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron flew its missions beginning in July 1971. The 91st conducted reconnaissance training of USAF, US Marine Corps, and allied RF-4 reconnaissance aircrews between 1982 and 1989 and acted as adviser to Air National Guard reconnaissance units until 1992. As part of the closure of Bergstrom AFB (TX) and retirement of the RF-4C the 91st was inactivated on 30 August 1991.

Grainy photo of RF-4C 69-0364 that crashed on 6 November 1985 while climbing out of Zweibrücken. Unfortunately, I used Ilford HP5 film on this day. This is a ISO 400 film, nice for dark weather, but way too grainy, so I switched to PAN F (ISO 50) later. Both are still available in 2020!
