162972 delivered to the USMC on 24 August 1987 and assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 223 (VMA-223) at MCAS Cherry Point, NC, Seen 5 days later at NAS Glenview, IL open house! By May 1988 it was with VMA-542, also at Cherry Point, and then by December 1990 it was with another Cherry Point Squadron, VMA-231, which deployed to Saudi Arabia for combat in Operation Desert Storm. By July 1994 it was re-assigned to VMA-223. By March 2002 it was stored dismantled at Cherry Point. The plane was Struck off Charge Feb 6, 2003, and as late as May 2009 was still dismantled at Cherry Point.
