Retired by Everts Air Cargo in 2016, this aircraft made its final flight from Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs Airport on October 2, 2016. Three large steel pylons were erected during the summer of 2018 and the aircraft was hoisted in place atop them. I asked some folks working at the resort what the plans were for the aircraft and was told that it might be used for a zip line or outfitted as a cocktail lounge. Also of note, this aircraft was the last Northern Air Cargo DC-6 type aircraft to be retired in September 2008.

The paint is a bit tattered but this veteran DC-6B was have a very busy day doing pilot training. It was flying most of the morning and I saw it later on in the day doing pattern work while I was in the terminal waiting for my flight to Anchorage. Interesting to note that the pilot being trained was a woman! Good for her, she's probably the only DC-6 type rated female pilot in the world.

The paint is a bit tattered but this veteran DC-6B was have a very busy day doing pilot training. It was flying most of the morning and I saw it later on in the day doing pattern work while I was in the terminal waiting for my flight to Anchorage. Interesting to note that the pilot being trained was a woman! Good for her, she's probably the only DC-6 type rated female pilot in the world.

Retired by Everts Air Cargo in 2016, this aircraft made its final flight from Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs Airport on October 2, 2016. Three large steel pylons were erected during the summer of 2018 and the aircraft was hoisted in place atop them. I asked some folks working at the resort what the plans were for the aircraft and was told that it might be used for a zip line or outfitted as a cocktail lounge. If they make it into a cocktail lounge, for sure they're going to have to install an elevator!

It was operating as Flight VTS-24 from Fairbanks to Candle and the good news is that none of the three crewmembers onboard were injured.
