This was a rare sight, a jet fighter on Slovenian soil.

When the Yugoslav civil war broke out, the Serbians left Brnik air base, but left behind this F-86D. In 1998 it was still in place, although nature tried hard to get hold of this storage area.

For the Celje air show this Dutch F-16 arrived at Ljubljana. As it was based in Italy for the Balkan crisis it was to flown back at any notice. So the demo was flown with fuel tanks fitted.

The Alps dominate the skyline at Ljubljana's small airport, Brnik. Opened in 1964, it became the new home of Inex-Adria Airways, which after the breakup of Yugoslavia reformed as Slovenia's national airline.

The JRV started to receive Thunderjets under MDAP in 1953, the last being withdrawn in 1974 when replaced by locally-built Galebs and Jastrebs. This one, really 10642, was displayed with a pair of Sabres and is recorded as still stored at Aerodrom Brnik
