The Super Courier was a light utility transport with excellent STOL capability that allowed it to operate from a clearing the size of a football field. This along with its ability to fly slowly at speeds of approximately 30 mph made it an excellent aircraft for visual reconnaissance and as a FAC. This U-10D on display at the National Museum of the USAF is painted and marked as an aircraft assigned to the 5th Air Commando Squadron in SE Asia in 1968.

This is not the original 82-1070 'Spirit of Ohio', rather one of two additional aircraft Northrop constructed without engines or instruments for fatigue testing. This example was used for stress testing on the airframe (it was discovered that the wings could withstand 161% of the design specs stress load before cracking) before being retired to the National Museum of the USAF for display.
