It's all hands to the pump as more yellow jackets try to figure out how to get the MD83's right undercarriage wheel out of earth after a neat bit of taxiing by the Spanair pilot. The aircraft was finally removed after 2 1/2 hours. I bet the passengers were not too happy.

Aircraft usually turn left when entering runway 23 but this pilot decided to backtrack for a full length departure which requires a right turn and then a 180 degree turn but he misjudged it and went off the taxiway resulting in the right undercarriage wheel sinking into the earth. It was stuck here for 2 1/2 hours causing aircraft to divert to other airports.
