One very old DC-8, delivered to Delta as N803E in 10.59 and later HI-452 (not taken up), HI-595CA and YV-810C, most of the time with Agro Air. Leased by Midas 8.94-5.95 and re-registered N505FB in 10.98; Agro merged into Fine Air 1.01. Stored at Roswell, NM from 2002 and was by quite a margin the oldest DC-8 in flying condition - quite something to think it's been around for 50 years

Registered as N8080U in 3.68, the Super Eight was converted to freighter configuration in late 1992 and bought by Fast Air in 1.93. To MAS Air as N871MY in 12.99 and GPT Promodal as PR-GPT in 11.03; scrapping began at Manaus in 5.06 but still there in poor and very dirty condition at the end of 2008

This former Eastern and JAL DC-8 crashed on take-off from Miami's runway 27R on 7.8.97 due to unbalanced and shifting cargo; soon after rotation the nose pitched up violently causing a stall. The 1968-built aircraft, bound for Santo Domingo, had been substituted for N30UA which was late inbound but the load sheet was not altered

Delivered as N8093U in 10.68 and converted to freighter when leased to LAN Chile in 12.92, serving them till late 1999. Used by Emery for a couple of years and eventually scrapped at Roswell, NM in 2005

Interestingly this airframe was originally slated for Wardair in 1989 but went instead to Midway. Leased by Air Aruba in 7.92, initially as P4-MDC but wfu by 10.00 when the airline ceased operating. To Southeast Airlines in 8.01 and Air Efata as PK-FEA in 12.05. Leased by Midwest 7.07 and now N414NV with Allegiant Air

This baby Nine was originally OY-KGE of SAS, registered in 1.69. By the time of entry into service with Valujet in 1.96, she had already accumulated some 53,000 hours. Sold and into store after only eight months and leased to Venus Airlines as SX-BFS in 7.97. Stored at San Antonio from 1999 and broken up 2.01
