This C-9B was once registered as N507MD. It flew from NAS Atlanta (GA) with Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VR) 46 "Eagles". The C-9B was phased out from US Navy service and arrived ar AMARC on 1 May 2002. Nice to know... In February 1985, the last piston driven C-118 Liftmaster in military service was retired by VR-46 as the squadron transitioned to the C-9B. VR-46 was sadly disestablished on 30 September 2012.

The 153rd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron was part of the Mississippi Air National Guard and based at Key Field ANGB. The squadron is currently equipped with KC-135 Stratotankers, but in the old days - after the prop era - it flew jets like the RF-80 Shooting Star, RF-84F Thunderflash, RF-101C Voodoo and these nice RF-4C Phantoms IIs. This 418 was temporary based at Bergstrom and a nice change to the massive number of photographed BA-coded Recce Phantoms that day.

Two visitors on the opposite of the runway of Bergstrom AFB (TX). The Texan megabase, housed a massive number of RF-4Cs and F-4Ds those days and was often visited by USAF aircraft that flew cross country and/or navigation missions through the USA. AF-104 of Fighter Squadron (VF) 201 Hunters on its way to the runway of NAS Dallas (TX). On this September 1987 day, the squadron performed some Dissimilar air combat training (DACT) with Tyndall F-15s that were deployed to Dallas. The pilot of one of the Tomcat said the memorable words to me before he entered his office: "Today we're gonna eat some Eagles" in a Texas slang.
