On 30 October 1991, while serving with 1435Flt out of RAF Stanley, Falkland Islands, control was lost during ACM with another Phantom. It disappeared into cloud and was not seen again. A five-day search recovered only small amounts of wreckage in the South Atlantic north of McBrides Head, East Falkland. (Approx. 50 miles north of Port Stanley). It was concluded that the crew became disorientated while in cloud, neither ejected and both were killed

Scrapped March 1992.

At the time operated by 9 Squadron, Akrotiri Strike Wing. Damaged beyond repair at Shiraz Air Base, Iran, on 23 May 1973, from where it had taken off on a routine training mission. On returning to Shiraz, port undercarriage leg jammed up and aircraft swung on landing into a gulley; declared Cat.5(C) and broken up on site.

It had been operating in Biafra. Arrived ACE circa Jan 1970. It remained stored/derelict there until it was destroyed by a fire in 1984.
