Not many problems with visibility from this old Stratocruiser cockpit. Shot taken after borrowing my friend Fred Seggie's 10-22 mm lens. Note the rope binding the two steering columns together.

It was a very interesting hour or so for me being able to walk around and take many detail shots of this wonderfully unusual aircraft.

View of the Supper Guppy's cargo hold looking forward through to the cockpit. There are least two features worth pointing out. Firstly, the red demarcation line revealing where the hinged nose section will open and, secondly, through the open access hatch on the right one can see the original Stratocruiser nose section around which the huge, bulbous, cargo fuselage has been attached.

The port side of this fascinating aircraft does look a bit tatty, however, it shouldn't be too long before she is in pristine condition again as the starboard side is being repainted.

A pair of A300 wings has arrived at Ringway by road from the Chester factory. The lorry tractor unit is carefully propelling the wings into the Super Guppy's capacious fuselage before departure to the Airbus plant.

First flew on 24.8.70 as N211AS and sold for the transportation of Airbus structures next year. Wfu 1996 and preserved at Bruntingthorpe
