Built in 1961, XL231 was the first Victor to under go K.2 tanker conversion. Used for tanker trials beginning in 1972, it would only get the full conversion and return to service later in the program. Later serving in the Falklands War and in Operation Grandby of the first Gulf War, the V Bomber was retired in 1993. Luckily one of five Victors to escape scrapping, it is privately owned but displayed at the Yorkshire Air Museum and kept in taxiable condition.
