Wartime 5th Air Force P-40N 42-105861 was abandoned at Dumpu Airfield in Papua New Guinea. The fuselage was recovered in 1974 and stored at Chino, CA. Restoration began in 1996 with parts from two other P-40s (42-104959 / wings and cockpit section and 42-105526 / tail surfaces).
