At readiness for summer season Alaska wildfire attack duty at Palmer. Carrying tanker number 23. Operated by Aero Union of Chico, California. Built in 1964. Taken on charge new by the US Navy as P-3A Orion 151372. Served with VP-65 at NAS Point Mugu, California. Retired from military service and put into storage at AMARC, Arizona in 1985. Transferred to the US Forest Service as N185AU. Converted to a firebomber by Aero Union in 1989 as N923AU. This photo is copyright © David A.
