The prototype Bristol 170 was acquired by Coventry based Trans European Aviation in October 1960 and flew passenger charters for the company. The company was rebranded in 1961 as Trans European Airways. The aircraft was impounded at Gatwick when the company ceased trading in August 1962 and broken up there in 1965.
