In open storage at California City still in basic US Coast Guard colours. Delivered new to the USAF in 1954 as C-131A Samaritan 52-5784. Transferred to the US Coast Guard in 1977 as 5784, an HC-131A. Became N54215 in 1984. Used by NASA to test the Space Shuttle Crew Escape System, with a mock-up created on left rear fuselage and operated using dummies. With the California Museum of Air and Space from 1998 and subsequently put on static display at California City Municipal Airport. This photo is copyright © David A.
