Fifty Spitfires were bought by the Swedish Air Force to serve as reconnaissance aircraft with F11. The type was designated S31 (S for Spaning). The aircraft were retired in 1955 and replaced by Saab S29C Tunnans. The Flygvapenmuseum has this former Indian Air Force Spitfire Mk.XIX on display (ex HS964 and ex RAF PM627) to commemorate the service of this type of aircraft with the Swedish Air Force.
