On 17 January 1991 this F/A-18C shot down an Iraqi Chengdu F-7A (MiG-21) with a AIM-7M Sparrow missile while assigned to VFA-81. It was last assigned to VFA-146 before it was retired. In March 2025 it was transferred on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum to the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum in Alameda, California.
