This is the only surviving Monospar from the total production of 45. It was built at Hanworth in 1935 for New England Airways in Australia and registered as VH-UTH, flying there for 20 years with various companies. Flown back to Lympne and Biggin Hill in an epic 38-leg journey ending in September 1961 overcoming monsoon, sandstorms, war and revolt, by 1968 it was in derelict condition and stored. On becoming one of the first airframes to join the nascent Newark museum, a slow but so worthwhile restoration began, only completed in 2023 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
