A new design linked to Fairchild's original model 71 in name only. The aircraft was built around a large forward cargo compartment with an external parasol wing and the pilot positioned well aft. Loaned to Canadian Airways for operational testing in 1935, you can see why the pilot's position proved hazardous as the view forward was poor. The floatplane struck debris in the water several times in service before it hit a submerged tree on take off at Lost Lake in 1940 and sank. The salvaged remains recovered in the 70s, the aircraft was later restored by the museum for display.
