"Shady Lady" was too tempting for several B-24 crews leading to confusion. This Shady Lady has been confused with 42-40369 which operated out of Darwin, Australia. 42-40212 was attached to the 370th BS/307th BG which operated out of Henderson Field in the Solomon Islands and Espiritu Santo in what is now Vanuatu. This was the region in where the RNZAF was active during World War II, unlike Darwin. 42-40212 was broken up in August 1944.
