Test pilot John Derry in the cockpit. Photo print dated 20 July 1950, but VZ831 was already delivered in October 1949. The Devon/Dove in the centre background seems to be G-ALFM. VP961 was registered to the Air Ministry as G-ALFM between December 1948 and March 1949. Dove production was at Hatfield until 1951. The photo was certainly taken before 6 September 1952 when Derry lost his life in the horrific DH.110 crash at Farnborough which killed 29 people on the ground too. Photo from: De Havilland
