The first prototype of the XCG-20 troop glider, rebuilt as the XC-123 with two R-2800 piston engines. It first flew as such probably on 14 October 1949, although Joe Baugher's site only says that it was damaged while landing on that date. It crashed on 27 June 1951. The C-123 Provider was eventually produced by Fairchild. Photo from: San Diego Air & Space Museum This photo was added on 18 May 2025, and has since been viewed 73 times. |
