Painted to represent an AC-47 'Spooky', in actuality the 37th Troop Carrier Squadron flew this Skytrain in WWII and airdropped 82nd Airborne Division soldiers during the parachute assaults of the Normandy invasion and also in Operation Market Garden. It served in another famous campaign post-war when it was part of the Berlin Airlift. Then taken on charge by the Turk Hava Kuvvetleri, it returned to the US in 1954 and joined the Indiana ANG, later transferred to the Ohio ANG. By 1979 it was on display here at Hurlburt in camouflage, as per my photo here for comparison This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
