The A16 was the first Focke-Wulf type, a three-passenger airliner first flown on 23 June 1924. D-659 was converted to A16c standard with a Siemens-Halske radial. Note the cage protecting the pilot. Photo printed in Berlin, location thought to be Tempelhof. D-659 and another A16 were bought cheaply from Lufthansa in 1930 by Wilhelm Przibilla, who based them at Gandau airfield in Breslau (now Wrocław) for sightseeing and taxi flights. D-659 crashed in February 1933, and Mr Przibilla was killed. This photo was added on 19 February 2025, and has since been viewed 204 times. |
