On display at JMSDF Naval Air Museum Kanoya. Licence-built P2Js differed from radial P2Vs by their T-64-IHI-10 turboprops driving three-bladed propellers. Lighter and faster than the P2V-7, the P2J had IHI-J3 turbojets like the J34s. The vertical tail was enlarged, the main landing gear received dual-wheels and APS-80 replaced the bigger APS-20 radar. This is the last P-2J built. Seventh Kokutai was the last JMSDF squadron to fly the P-2J, and this aircraft completed the last flight on June 5, 1994. The squadron emblem of a blue Omega with seven stars of the Big Dipper is visible on the tail. This photo is copyright © Arjun Sarup, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
