Slide is part of my private collection. Picture was taken by Marinus Dirk Tabak. On November 21st, 1978, while landing together with collegue D-8098 at Wildenrath AB in Germany, this Starfighter collided with its forward cockpit section into the aft section of F-104G D-8098. The pilot of the D-8341 was tragically killed by this collision. It happened during a squadron exchange with RAF 19 Squadron at Wildenrath. The aircraft was declared written off and modified into a towing instruction airframe at Volkel Air Base. This photo was added on 14 December 2023, and has since been viewed 400 times. |
