Built in 1957 as a C-130A for the USAF, 57-0497, then converted to a DC-130A drone controller, able to carry two drones under each wing. Transferred to the US Navy in 1979 as 570497. Operated for the USN by civilian contractors for a time : Tracor Flight Systems 1985-1990 and AVTEL Services 1990-2002. Joined US Navy Squadron VX-30 in 2002, flying from Point Mugu on the Sea Test Range. Entered storage at AMARC Davis-Monthan in 2007. This photo is copyright © David A.
