Brothers Howard and Joe Funk formed Akron Aviation to manufacture the Funk B. Akron was renamed Funk Aircraft in 1941. The brothers developed their own engine from a Ford car engine but was soon replaced by Lycoming flat-four engine. This aircraft remained on the register until 1955.
