An oddity among the DC-3s acquired by ANA after World War II. Ordered by American Airlines, it was taken over by the USAAC on the production line and delivered as a C-50. Fitted with a C-47 style double cargo door but on the starboard side instead of port. ANA used it as a freighter. Sold in New Zealand as ZK-BWE in 1955. Fitted with Pratt and Whitney R-1830 engines in place of Wright R-1820s before delivery. This photo was added on 4 September 2022, and has since been viewed 549 times. |
