The owner of Navion N4294C says his aircraft was NASA 217 and has painted his aircraft to reflect that. NASA replaced NACA in 1958. How long 217 served with NACA/NASA is not known but it became a civil aircraft in 1965. C/n NAV-4-1653 was delivered to the USAF as 48-0947.
