Photo taken in China during the first combat mission for the B-29s in the China-Burma-India theatre. A 40BG aircraft based at Chakulia, India, it would have staged through Xinjin (then known as Hsinching). Each B-29 base in India was paired with a Chinese forward deployment field. 42-6331 was declared war weary and converted to a fuel transport. It was shot down by an RAF Beaufighter over Burma on December 20, 1944.
