United Airlines operated N8973U September 1969 until retired in July 1983. The aircraft was sold to International Air Leases (IALI) in 1984 and leases to Rich International Airways, Northeastern International Airways and Hawaiian Airlines followed up to 1993. Converted to a freighter by American International Airways and registered N803CK, the aircraft was stored at Mojave, CA in 2000. A short lease to Silk Airways (4K-AZ29) in 2003 before Johnsons Air (9G-PEL) was the last airline to fly the freighter 2003 -05.
