The arsenal of democracy. Lockheed Hudsons and Douglas DB-7s for the Royal Air Force, and an L-18 Lodestar, ZS-ATE, for South African Airways. Originally ordered by France, the 100 DB-7A Havoc IIs, including AH443 and AH436 here with the white serials, were converted to night fighters. Judging by photo 408544, this shot was taken at Floyd Bennett Field in New York, probably in December 1940.
