KLM used Dakotas and some Catalinas on domestic services in Indonesia after WWII. The first four Cats were RCAF Canso aircraft delivered in 1947. Ex BuNo 04983 and NC74693, PK-CPA was the first of five PBY-5As refurbished with 18 seats in Georgia. It was ferried from Schiphol to Kemayoran in early November 1949. The Dutch acknowledged Indonesian independence on 23 December and the KLM Interinsulair Bedrijf was taken over by Garuda. PK-CPA was named Amboina in Garuda service.
