Pictured here while still equipped with radial engines, this Caribou was later modified with PT-6 turboprops. On 27 August 1992 it crashed and burned at Gimli when the elevator gust lock reengaged itself on take-off. Ironically the flight was just meant to be for fun and to consume as much fuel as possible before the aircraft was weighed.
