The Avro 652 was the precursor of the Anson. Only two examples were built. Imperial Airways used them mostly to fly express mail to their seaplane station in Brindisi, until the Empire flying boats entered service. They were then sold to Air Service Training Ltd and impressed in 1941, G-ACRN becoming DG656.
