First of the GAF upgraded spec aircraft (B.6 equivalent) with 7,500 lb thrust Avon Mark 109/RA.7 engines and the provision for wing leading edge fuel tanks. Served with 2 Sqn in Vietnam as part of USAF 35th Tactical Fighter Wing based at Phan Rang Air Base (approx 150 miles north east of Saigon). Arrived 05/67. Destroyed 14/03/71 after being hit by two SA-2. Surface to Air Missiles (SAMS). Both Crew; WGCDR (P) F. Downing and FLTLT (N) A.
