This is a very early DC-3, built in 1939 and thus 80 years old when this photo was taken! It was once the world's only C-41A, flying with the USAAF with serial 40-70. It was withdrawn from use in late 1945 and placed in storage, before being rebuilt as a regular DC-3 by Standard Airlines in December 1951, using parts from various airframes. This was the start of its long civil career.
