Marine Airways was formed in Juneau in July 1936 and NC196N arrived in August. In 1939, Marine Airways and Alaska Air Transport joined forces, but their new name Alaska Coastal Airlines was not used until 1941 it seems. Photo taken on the Juneau waterfront, very close to the current seaplane base. NC196N operated on wheels occasionally and here they are about to hoist it up to put the floats back on. NC196N was called 'Shaky Jake' as it suffered from a persistent vibration. Nevertheless, it served the people of Juneau for over 30 years. It was preserved in Canada as CF-ATN. This late production Otter was delivered to the Tanzanian AF as JW9109 aboard an RCAF C-130 in 1967 and sold back to Canada in 1972. It joined Wings in 1993 and in 2004 underwent turbo conversion by Texas Turbine. Unlike the Harbour Air Otters converted by Vazar using the ubiquitous PT6A turboprop, the five Wings birds are TPE331 powered. Taken from cruise liner Celebrity Eclipse.

Photo taken from the cruise ship in Juneau. This Otter is on its way for another of many flights during the day. There is a James Bond 007 symbol painted under the horizontal stab which coincides with the cn which is 7. Its been there for many years under different owners.
