A little known and very rare aircraft type (only six built). This one was configured as a crop duster, with a spreader system attached below the fuselage. Photo by Dusty Carter.

A pretty little helicopter, especially in comparison with a Sikorsky R-4, Fred Landgraf's plywood H-2 was first flown at Torrance, California on 11 November 1944. Incorporating innovative solutions, it received some military funding but was eventually abandoned. Some test flights took place at Compton - Central Airport from 1946 and the photo is assumed to have been taken there because the R-4 looks like NL75988 in Bill Larkins' 1948 photograph. Ex US Army 43-46560. I believe this to be the only R-4 ever modified as a crop duster in the U.S.
