The prototype of the Tipsy M, first flown in the late 1930s. Designer Ernest Oscar Tips was associated with Avions Fairey, Fairey's Belgian branch. The prototype was in England in 1940 and was used by Fairey as a hack aircraft for a while. After the war Fairey undertook to produce the type in England as the Primer elementary trainer, even though no drawings or jigs were availabe. Only two production aircraft were completed.
