It will probably not win a beauty contest, but the Schweizer 330 is not only rare, it is an economic helicopter to operate. The Dominican air force bought four of these helicopters, one of which is FAD-3043, seen here taking off from San Isidro.

On 4th February 2008 this helicopter suffered significant component and airframe damage when, after landing from a post-maintenance check flight, it suffered a seizure of the main rotor gearbox pinion outer bearing due to oil starvation. The main rotor gearbox had been replaced during recent maintenance and it was determined that metallic debris had entered the bearing oil supply gallery during attempts to remove a blanking plug. The Schweizer name was revived in 2018 when Sikorsky sold the S300 series helicopter line to Schweizer RSG. The 269D-A (marketed as the S-333) is a development of the piston 269 with a new fuselage, turbine power and upgraded dynamic components.

Escadron de Rescate owned four (ugly?) Schweizer 333s since 2004. Two were written off, one crashed during its landing (serial 3040 in August 2006), the second caught fire during refueling (serial 3042 in March 2008) and was fully destroyed. Both survivors can be found at AirHistory.net.
