After having extensive restoration completed by RAAF Heritage, Meteor A77-871 is now looking a picture of good health. This Meteor had a relatively uneventful career with the RAAF becoming an instructional trainer. Today though it is displayed at RAAF Wagga Wagga at the front gate.

Was still the gate guardian at RAAF Forest Hill in 2018. However it no longer wore the markings of the Meteorites aerobatic team

A77-871 has been a long-time gate guardian at RAAF Forest Hill. Its first stint at the base entrance ended when it was deemed a distraction to drivers on the Sturt Highway. It and another Meteor and two CAC Sabres were removed. When the base entrance was redesigned, A77-871 made its return and shares duties with a Sabre, Canberra, Mirage III and F-111. The Sabre was absent at the time of the visit. The former gatehouse is the base heritage centre, with a new gatehouse located further from the highway.

This Aircraft is situated at the front gate of RAAF Base Wagga Wagga in NSW Australia. Ex RAF WK791 and delivered to RAAF in 1953.
