First flown in August 1951, the Vultur was a naval attack aircraft powered by an Armstrong Siddeley Mamba turboprop engine, plus an auxiliary RR Nene turbojet in the tail. This second prototype had more powerful engines. It did simulated deck trials at RAE Farnborough in 1953. It was later converted to the Br 965 Épaulard anti-submarine warfare aircraft without the Nene, which led to the RR Dart-powered Br 1050 Alizé. Photo by: Cyril Peckham / Hawker Siddeley
