G-AUGZ had been ferried from Australia to Lae via Rabaul as a floatplane and without the registration letters applied. In 1929, the registration was changed to VH-UGZ when Australia adopted its own prefix. Photos show that VH-UGZ was painted on the aircraft prior to its crash at Wau in March 1930. Ian Grabowsky photo
