Taken on charge of the NVA on 13 Februay 1969 and assigned to Jagdgeschwader 7, later it was transferred to JG9, and then to Taktische Aufklärungsfliegerstaffel 87 (TAFS-87, as pictured). The FISHBED went to the Luftwaffe as 22+94 on 3 October 1990. It was withdrawn from use at Drewitz in July 1991, and eventually scrapped at Dresden on 14 January 1993.
