WE790 was being operated from the Australian carrier HMAS Sydney when it landed at an unnamed USMC base in Korea with engine trouble. It had been loaned as an attrition replacement by the Royal Navy from stocks it held in Singapore. WE790 returned to the RN at the end of the Sydney's 122-day deployment. This short-term loan may explain the lack of a carrier code on the fin. WE790 was struck off charge in 1958 and scrapped at Deelen in the Netherlands.
