The Draken research aircraft is now preserved in its ultimate shape in the Flygvapenmuseum.

The forerunner of the Draken, the Lilldraken research aircraft made 887 flights between 23 January 1952 and 25 October 1956. The long intakes seen here were cut back at some point. The aircraft is preserved in the Flygvapenmuseum.

This little jet was built to test the radical wing shape designed for the Draken fighter. First flown in 1952 with an different nose, it became known as the Lilldraken (Little Draken). Almost 900 flights were made but it does not seem to have carried any serial or registration, although it was coded U for some time.

The experimental forerunner of the Draken was the Saab 210, known as Lilldraken (Little Dragon). First flown in 1951, it was powered by an Armstrong-Siddeley Adder turbojet and was used on delta development work till 1956
